Is there a website where I can order parts for my refrigerator that are cheaper than buying from Sears? I'm not sure what is wrong with it, but I'm going to try a defrost heater next and see that works. They are $46 through Sears Parts Direct. Can I get it cheaper somewhere else - like a "generic" brand?

tony c replied: "have not had good luck trying to do anything with products made in sears brand name. they used to control what went into their products so if you need any repairs you mostly had to go to them. good luck with your search"

S L replied: "Order the defrost t-stat also...make you unplug frig you will need wire stripper and wire nuts after you have the everything in let it run for a little then turn the dial on the timer you should hear heaters making a clicking sound....what is your model number may find them cheaper......All sears products are either whirlpool.Ge Maytag etc etc they just slap Kenmore stickers on"

Theresa M replied: "If you live in KY there is a parts place in florence ,ky on Turfway rd I use"

gizmoe replied: "Is there any one you know that can test the heater out for you before you order that? You may be able to even see the break and then you can be sure. All you would need is some elec. know how and a meter. Of coarse it would have to be defrosted to get at."

ozarks bum replied: "Ah, Sears, the master of the business world when it comes to controlling how you get parts for its products. I doubt Sears makes even one appliance or product. It contracts it all out, insists on using a Sears serial or parts number on all components, then controls the market for repairs by not allowing any other business to access the same piece via a cross reference data base. The only way most places get around this is by direct comparison and experience. Thus, most of the time you pay Sears about 25% more than you would for the same part, but you don't know how to get that part because of Sears' practice. Just try to find a cable for a Sears lawnmower at a parts place.....Nice bit of management from one of the world's largest retailers. This is a diatribe against Sears, not a suggestion about how you can find the correct part. You could call a lot of parts places and ask if they have something they know will fit the Sears product. Time consuming. Unless you really like Sears products, you may be better off next time buying a different brand (knowing all the time that that particular brand has at some time made stuff for Sears to sell under the Sears brand)."

R W replied: "Ch out It helped me more than once"

DAVID H replied: "repair clinic.com you get actual photos of the parts so you can be assured of gettting what you want Most parts come from one manufactor FMP (Franklin Machine Products) you can try their site also, but i don't know if they sell to the general public, like repairclinic does."

I talked to Sears Parts people and they told me that my dryer parts have been reengineered? I only wanted a belt. The new belt is 4 teeth wide. The old belt is 6 teeth wide. The parts man tells me that I will need to replace my old pulleys if I want to use the new belt, that all the parts on my dryer have been changed. I would like to use a belt like the old one and I have it off the dryer. How can I get a belt for this dryer? Can I go to a belt selling place and just get a belt from them using the numbers on the belt itself and dimensions?

Stanley S replied: "yeah"

thisbrit replied: "You could use the dimensions and stuff - it shoudl be fine. A belt is a belt. Or try eBay using the model number and the size etc. Search for it and maybe someone is selling one. Or try the Goodwill near you for a junked dryer. . . Just a couple of thoughts."

launrider replied: "Try a local applaince repair shop or you might also try an auto parts store."

allthegoodonesaretakensoblowme replied: "i work for sears and ive never heard of this. but alot of times you get idiots on the phone. one of the best things ive found to do is to just call again and hope to get someone else. usually you will get decent help the second time around. i dont know what number you may have been given but try 1-800-469-4663. get the model number off your dryer(it should be around the door opening somewhere- hte door will have to be open to see it). maytags sometimes have the model numbers on the back. dont worry about a serial number, that wont get you anywhere. but at that number ive never known of anyone not being able to get what they called for, as long as the correct information is given."

ApplianceGuy replied: "Just use the new belt. It will fit and work fine. They stopped making the 6 rib belt but the four ribbed belt is a factory replacement for that. Lube the idler pulley or replace it if it wobbles."

Where can I find and order parts for a Sears cement mixer? I need a shaft with the gears made onto it in one piece. Also need 2 bushings. I don't know of anyone that has parts that be cross applied to the Sears mixer. I was told that Sears no longer has the parts. Any help will be appreciated.

DANIEL S replied: "Sorry dude sounds like you need a new mixer, unless you want to try that zoo they call eBay."

snowlady replied: "Try looking on ebay....If not there you might be out of luck."

badbill1941 replied: "1-800-488-1222 or"

bad speller replied: "most likely if the cement mixer is old they dont make it anymore ,my advice is to go to a metal worker and have him make it for you ."

won2many replied: "Try grainger.com. They may have gears, shafts, and bushings. Machine shops can make shafts and bushings. Welding shops to weld a new gear to the shaft. Good luck!"

where can I find parts for an old Sears pool table? A friend has a 1950's-early 1960's Sears pool table that needs side rails replaced & doesn't want to spend a fortune fixing it. Replacement parts would seem to be the easiest, cheapest solution.

Snoop D in the Crib replied: "you can't they are not making those anymore sucks for you"

where can I buy parts for a sears rototiller other than sears? sears prices for parts suck,,who makes the rototillers for sears...???

sensible_man replied: "Try a Small Engine Repair shop. Don't expect the price to be much less than if you buy it from Sears unless you have been having parts installed by one of their home service people."

Where can I find parts for a 1968 Sears&Roebuck Benelli motorcycle. It is 106cc. ? I am looking to restore this bike with my father and would like to do so in the next year and half. The engine is fine, but needs cosmetic parts like seat,, grips, and foot pegs. Any help on a place that sells classic parts would be fantastic!

janice_hamilton@ymail.com replied: "Try Cosmopolitian motors out of the Langhorne Area of PA. You might also contact vintage motorcycle clubs for swap meet days in your area."

slimcolo replied: "I have one (non running) that would make a good parts bike."

How do I get ahold of a copy of a manual for a Sears Craftsman Router, Model 315.17491? The parts website says? the manual has been discontinued. However, you can still get a lot of the parts. My wife's friend gave it too me and it didn't have the manual. It still works great.

Jenny replied: "Go to search box an put in craftsman router model 315 booklet or pamplet. it should come up where you can g and copy it from your computer. hope this helps"

jared t replied: "register at you can download and print manuals for free."

melo5560 replied: "According to at this you could contact Mr. Dana Martin Batory. He maintains a list of documentation that he will photocopy for a reasonable fee. There is a link to his list in the above article. I checked it out and it lists the router model # you are looking for. According to this site, he is not on the web, so you have to contact him via the Postal Service."

wvparanormal replied: "Do you need it for a specific reason? Router basics are pretty much the same for all craftsman routers, so a manual for a different router may give you the answer. I usually toss the manuals for cheap tools as soon as I get them. There is very little worthwhile information in the manual, unless you never used a router before. If a craftsman router breaks, it's cost prohibitive to fix, since you can pick up a used one at almost any pawn shop for about $35. The thing there is I have never had a craftsman router break. I have three of them and all of them are over ten years old."

renpen replied: "I agree that the manual is not much use. If you want router instructions get a book on the subject. There are several good books that explain what the bits do and how to get the best results. The owner's manual tells you to unplug the router when changing bits. That is about the extent of the instructions."

passione001 replied: "http://manualfox.com is manual search agency, which is specialized in finding these things. Try to ask them, they got me some manuals, I would have never found."

looking for a source to purchase parts for an older model Sears wood lathe? Sears no longer stocks the parts i need

Jim replied: "There are several ways to locate parts at Sears. The first way is to go to Sears.com Click on the "parts and services" button on the home page. You can search either by part number (if you have it) or you can pull up an exploded drawing which lists all parts by part number - to get this, key in the model number of your lathe. Once you identify the part numbers you need, you can order them online. You can also order an Owners Manual, there is a search box that tells you to enter in 1 (one) word for a search, enter the word "owners" and you'll get the part number for the owners manual. If you send me the model number of your lathe, I'll do some research and send you the results....drop me an email at"

Bricky Local 9 PA replied: "good luck , i had the same problem with mine. its a 1981 12 in. lathe. biggest problem was finding stuff with a no. 1 morse taper. check grizzly, woodworkers supply, etc."

rrambrose replied: "If this is the lathe with the tube bed, Rigid has a lathe that looks very similar to the old Sears tube lathe. Check that out as a possible source for parts."

pplsag replied: "Try searching. Post, for FREE, a request for parts, and list the machine you have, the serial number, and year of make, if you know it. Also, try the Sears web site, and see if they have a request form, for past machines sold. Probably worth the time/effort."
